Natasha Freeman - Director

BIO~

Natasha Freeman is entering her 5th year as the director of the Pacesetters/ JV Drill teams.

Ms. Freeman grew up in Schertz, TX and was a member of award winning Belles dance team. As Belle, she performed in numerous football performances including state championships, and traveled around the United States competing and performing. Her senior year she served as colonel and led her team to many awards at contest. It was Ms. Freeman’s senior year, where she began teaching at her local studio and found her love for teaching.

 After high school, Ms. Freeman continued her dancing at Sam Houston State University. While at SHSU, she had the privileged of dancing under many notable dance professionals including Cindy Gratz, Melissa Johnson, Jennifer Pontius, and Dana Nicholay.  She graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in dance and minor in health education. Immediately after graduation, Ms. Freeman found herself at Texas Woman’s University, where she received a Masters of Teaching in the field of Dance and Education.

Ms. Freeman has had the privileged of teaching/ choreographing for many local and statewide schools as well as  individuals. She claims many division 1 solos, solo champions, choreography award, and team championships. She is a staff member of

Showtime International, where she serves as judge at regional and national levels and camp choreographer.

 Ms. Freeman enjoys being part of The Stallion family and is very excited to direct the Pacesetters and JV drill teams!

 Q- Prior to high school drill, did you take dance?  If so, what type and how long?

 

 A- Yes, I trained in a studio and took ballet, jazz, tap, and Acro.

 

 Q-What's your favorite color?

 

 A- Sparkle!! I actually love all the colors but if I had to choose I would pick pink with a little sparkle of course!

 

 Q-What is your biggest pet peeve, on or off the dance floor?

 

 A- On and off the dance floor, I would have to say not giving your all. I also hate when dancers mess with their hair in practice/ performance.

 

 Q-While attending SHSU, was your dancing strictly in a class/studio or did you participate in a campus dance/drill team?

 

 A- I participated in the dance company.

 

 Q-Do you have any siblings?

 

 A- Yes, a big brother! Just recently, he received is doctorate in clinical psychology!

 

 Q-If you weren't a dancer or teacher, what profession would you have chosen?

 

 A- Definitely something in the public health field, which was my minor.

 

 Q-Do you know how to cook?  If so, what's your best dish?

 

 A- Yes, I love to cook. I make a pretty good egg casserole and pound cake( thanks to my Aunt Birdell's recipe!)

 

 Q-Do you have any pets?

 

 A- I have a dog named Coal, but he's more like my son!

 

 Q-What was your worst or least favorite class in high school?

 

 A- Math was definitely my worst and dance was my favorite.

 

 Q-What dreams, goals, changes and/or additions do you have for the Pacesetter organization over the next 5 years?

 

 A- I hope the organization continues to grow both in size and technical goals. I would love to see a middle school program develop to help make the transition to high school dance/ drill easier.
